Statute
The members of the Council for the Oversight of the Intelligence System of the Portuguese Republic serve a 4-year mandate, with the immunity that is necessary for them to carry out their respective jobs, in accordance with the terms of Article 11 of the Portuguese Republic’s Intelligence Systems Framework Law (LQSIRP).
According to Article 12 of the LQSIRP, the special duties of the members of the Oversight Council are: to carry out their jobs independently, free from bias and aware of the feeling of mission that is involved; to contribute, through their devotion, dedication and example, to the correct application of the LQSIRP; to maintain the confidentiality laid down in Article 28 of the LQSIRP.
Current members
The current members of the Council for the Oversight of the Intelligence System of the Portuguese Republic are Col. António Marques Júnior (Chairman), Prof. Pedro Gomes Barbosa and District Attorney José António Branco.
